Remind Me Who Runs the Country Again?

How is it that the people who run the country, have their fingers on the buttons, and sit in the lap of power get to whine incessantly about being powerless to defend themselves from their detractors--who really have no power at all?

Via Atrios:
I hate when people who have access to the most influential platforms in the world whine about being "attacked," and she's compounding this by claiming she has no way to "fight back."

Yeah, here are some people who are actually unable to "fight back" because you were "proved fucking right" Judy [Miller].

Judith Miller personally put the Good Housekeeping Approval stamp on the Iraq WMD hoax. She has so much power at the The New York Times that she can basically get a war off the ground with her one source story, a spy named 'Curveball' who we now know was an Iranian agent, Ahmed Chalabi (now in Tehran).

She still has a job and the support of the paper after this:
On May 26th, the paper published an editor’s note acknowledging that it had been improperly influenced by Chalabi. “Accounts of Iraqi defectors were not always weighed against their strong desire to have Saddam Hussein ousted,” the note said. “It looks as if we, along with the administration, were taken in.”
Emphais mine. Not always?
